Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using radioactive materials to help diagnose and treat various medical conditions. Your expertise in nuclear medicine will contribute significantly to patient care and the overall success of our medical imaging department.

Job Type: Part Time or PRN or more

Responsibilities

  • Perform nuclear medicine scans, including PET/CT and CT scans, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and procedures. Radiology Certification for X-Ray and DEXA is preferred but not required.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients as per physician orders while ensuring proper aseptic technique.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations and interpret imaging results in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation related to procedures performed, including medical terminology relevant to nuclear medicine.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning effectively for optimal imaging results.
  • Educate patients about the procedures, addressing any concerns or questions they may have regarding the process.
  • Stay updated with advancements in nuclear medicine technology and practices to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
  • Certification from a recognized body (e.g., ARRT or NMTCB) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to medical imaging.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology specific to nuclear medicine practices.
  • Experience with diagnostic evaluation techniques and familiarity with various imaging modalities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for maintaining accurate records and ensuring patient safety.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 40 per week
