Position Summary:

Multiple postdoctoral positions are available beginning 10/01/2024 in the laboratory of Dr. Paul B. Fisher (one position is with Dr. Swadesh K Das) in the Department of Human and Molecular Genetics at Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Medicine. The main research focus in Dr. Fisher’s laboratory is understanding cancer progression from a tumor and microenvironmental perspective and develop genetic and/or pharmaceutical tools to block tumor cell dissemination and growth. The laboratory is well equipped with molecular biology and Immunological technologies. The laboratory has a long track record working with Biotech/Pharma companies and filing more than 50 USA patents. Two products are now progressing toward first in human clinical trials.

Minimal Hiring Standards:

The ideal candidate for this position will have flow cytometry (CyTek), experience with both genetically engineered mice (GEM) and transplantable tumor models, extensive cell culture experience, and extensive molecular biology experience (Western blotting, PCR, QPCR, etc....). The ideal candidate must be detail oriented in developing and implementing experimental design and execution and must be capable of keeping a detailed laboratory notebook. The candidate must be able to work independently, process data and draft manuscripts independently as well as work on team-based projects. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with immunology and bioinformatics are considered as an extra preference.
