Job Function

As an Adjunct Counselor of the Counseling and Academic Advising Department at a premier community college, you’ll be combining your professional experience to provide services to students and persons seeking information about academic and career options.
Provide counseling services to enrolled students who have not identified an educational/career goal.

Job Responsibilities

Meet with all first time in any college (FTIAC) students during a required Course Planning Session to determine if the student is decided or undecided, review Self Guided Placement test scores, recommend first semester courses, and to discuss their next step.

Provide career counseling to all undecided, undeclared and indecisive students.

Provide educational counseling, including Macomb and transfer information, to all undecided/undeclared and indecisive students.

Support faculty in developing and conducting workshops/programs designed to promote student success and retention.

Provide referral to outside agencies and community resources for assistance in resolving personal problems.

Provide counseling support services to students on academic and financial aid probation, and other students who are in programs which require special academic monitoring.

Work closely with other team members in the delivery of high quality services.

Education

A Master’s Degree from an accredited college/university in Guidance & Counseling. Licensing or Certification: State of Michigan LLPC required.
