Center for Learning and Innovation (CFLI) is an empowered team dedicated to providing training to a wide range of healthcare staff. With a focus on continuous improvement, it provides a collaborative atmosphere that nurtures creativity, innovation, and a shared commitment to improving patient care.
The Professional Development Specialist (PDS) RN is a team member in the Center for Learning and Innovation (CFLI). The PDS RN develops and implements educational initiatives primarily to support the clinical staff at Scripps Health. Clinical care is provided in a variety of settings including inpatient, ambulatory, and procedural. The department supports training/education needs around key organizational initiatives as well as ongoing orientation, transition, and new graduate RN programs.
The PDS will develop curriculum to enhance and ensure staff competency, act as a subject matter expert, and mentor, facilitate, and influence change as necessary. He or she will work collaboratively with system and site operations leadership and leaders at all levels of the organization to identify enablers and barriers to optimal performance and implement learning that reduces the performance gap.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- Minimum of three to five years progressive educational experience.
- 5 years clinical/related practice.
- Requires excellent skills in written and verbal communication, complex problem-solving abilities, team development, planning and follow-through.
- Knowledge of computer technology and applications as applicable for role.
- Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned programs based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.
- Masters in clinical/non-clinical (nursing or other related professional discipline) required.
Required Certification/Registration:
- Current California RN license.
Preferred:
- Varied clinical experience preferred.
- Acute Care/Critical Care experience preferred.
