Research Program Coordinator
Job Description
The full-time Research Program Coordinator will coordinate administrative and programmatic aspects of Dr. Megan Collins' pediatric eye health and health equity research projects. Dr. Collins' multidisciplinary research agenda includes a focus on medical ethics, health equity, and school-based delivery of vision and health care services. Methods and approaches used include those from epidemiology, public health, bioethics, health policy, and pediatric ophthalmology. The coordinator will gain experience with an array of research tools and will develop and/or deepen skills in program management and implementation, data management and analyses, grant writing, scientific writing and presentations.
The Research Program Coordinator will oversee day-to-day activities (e.g., monitoring work in progress, project-related communication, and meeting scheduling) alongside working as part of several research teams. The coordinator will also assist with supporting the work of the Johns Hopkins Center for School Health and Vision for Baltimore, a citywide school-based vision program led by Dr. Collins. The Research Program Coordinator will contribute to drafting and editing presentations and publications, including preparing and modifying tables, figures, and references for publication; these will also be opportunities for authorship and professional presentations, opinion pieces, and blog posts.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Working closely with Dr. Collins and her research team
- Planning and scheduling meetings, distributing action items and monitoring their completion.
- Developing study protocols and data collection instruments and systems including web-based surveys, REDCap databases.
- Creating and managing IRB applications, amendments and reports; preparing and managing reports to funders.
- Assisting with project-related data collection (e.g., surveys, behavioral data collection, biospecimen collection).
- Managing and organizing study databases, ensuring data quality, data cleaning.
- Assisting with grant preparation and submission.
- Developing literature reviews, scientific papers, presentations, and posters in collaboration with research teams.
- Conducting mentored data analysis using statistics programs such as Stata or R.
- Creating and/or managing study and program websites and social media.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Qualtrics or other survey program.
- Experience with REDCap or other database program.
- Experience with statistical software (e.g., Stata, Mplus, R).
- Master’s degree in public health or related discipline.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
