Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Federal Project Manager to oversee and manage federal projects based out of our San Diego office. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of recent experience managing complex federal projects, a strong technical work experience, and familiarity with federal compliance standards. This position requires an active (or reactivatable) Secret Clearance, as the work involves collaboration with agencies such as the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Veterans Administration.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Project Planning & Execution:
oLead the full lifecycle of federal projects, from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with client goals, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
oDevelop detailed project plans, defining scope, budgets, schedules, and critical milestones.
oManage project KPIs, including budget adherence, scheduling, scope control, and overall project quality.
2.Technical Project Leadership:
oManage projects involving Cisco and Aruba networking equipment (wired and wireless), cybersecurity solutions (including Fortinet and Cisco ASA), and Aruba ClearPass/Cisco ISE.
oOversee installations of outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) fiber, network servers, firewalls, security cameras, and related video management systems (VMS).
oLead data center buildouts and the deployment of network core, edge, and routing equipment.
3.Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
oServe as the primary point of contact for federal clients, ensuring continuous and effective communication throughout project duration.
oEstablish regular updates and reporting to stakeholders on progress, potential risks, and project adjustments, ensuring client satisfaction and alignment with federal agency needs.
4.Travel & Site Coordination:
oCoordinate on-site project activities, with required travel primarily within Southern California (San Diego, Kern County).
oManage travel requirements between San Diego and Torrance offices, with potential minimal travel to other federal facilities within the continental United States.
oOur client offers compensation for travel mileage, with potential car allowances as travel requirements increase.
5.Compliance & Security Standards:
oEnsure all project activities comply with ISO 9001 and NIST frameworks, maintaining alignment with federal security and compliance regulations.
oManage documentation and reporting for federal compliance, audit readiness, and quality assurance.
6.Performance Monitoring & KPI Tracking:
oTrack project progress against established KPIs for project budgets, schedules (including milestone and critical path tracking), and scope management.
oProactively manage and mitigate project risks, escalating issues as needed and maintaining accountability for project deliverables.
7.Project Management Software & Tools:
oUtilize Excel and Microsoft Project for budget management, scheduling, and task tracking.
oUse ProCore as the primary project management platform (training will be provided for candidates unfamiliar with this tool).
8.In-Office and Remote Work:
oThis role is primarily based in San Diego office. After a 6-month period, eligibility for remote work or partial remote work will be assessed based on performance and project requirements.
9.Incentive & Bonus Structure:
oOur client offers a project bonus plan tied to project financial performance. Project Managers are eligible for this bonus if project financial objectives are met.
Qualifications:
*Education: Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Masters preferred.
*Certification: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
*Clearance: Active Secret Clearance preferred; inactive clearances may be reactivated. (The ability to obtain a Secret Clearance is a condition of continued employment)
Experience Required:
*Years of Experience: 5-8 years of recent experience managing federal projects.
*Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Cisco and Aruba networking, Aruba ClearPass, Cisco ISE, Fortinet, and Cisco ASA.
*Project Types: Demonstrated experience in federal projects involving OSP/ISP fiber installations, data center buildouts, network core and edge equipment installation, network server deployment, and cybersecurity implementations.

*Project Management Proficiency: Strong skills in project budgeting, scheduling, scope management, and risk mitigation.
*Technical Knowledge: Expertise in network infrastructure, cybersecurity protocols, and fiber installation.
*Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with ISO 9001 and NIST frameworks, with a solid understanding of federal compliance standards.
*Client & Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and client relationship management skills, with experience working with federal agencies.
