We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking, team member to help us process materials and equipment through APL's central receiving function. As a member of our team, you'll contribute to APL's success by ensuring incoming materials/equipment are received, documented and delivered in a timely manner. We are passionate about customer service and with your help, we-will remain a valued partner throughout the organization.
As a Receiving Specialist...
- Your primary responsibility will be to verify physical quantities, descriptions, count and condition of inbound material and equipment using EBSS and SCLogic in a timely manner.
- You will generate reports in EBSS or SCLogic, track and locate equipment/receivables,process and reconcile discrepancy reports and follow up on discrepancy items.
- You will ensure trucks are loaded and unloaded which may involve operating a lift gate,forklift or electric pallet jack. You may use APL vehicles in the course of daily operations.
- You will communicate with all levels of APL staff to resolve problems identified during the receiving process.
- You will provide support throughout the group as needed.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent and read, write and communicate
- Have 1+ years of previous warehouse experience
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess a valid driver 's license. If selected you will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Administration review.
- Are able to obtain or possess a valid Department of Transportation physical and can maintain this card.
- Have basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Are able to lift up to 70 lbs. and walk extensively indoors and outdoors
- Have strong interpersonal, time management and customer service skills
- Are able to obtain APL forklift certification
- Are able to load/unload packages using pallet jack, lift gate and forklift
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality
- Are reliable, safety conscious and responsible
- Are able to obtain Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

- Have basic knowledge and familiarity with a parcel tracking systems experience (i.e.,Oracle, EBSS, SCLogic)
- Dangerous Goods Certification

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
