Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - PACE

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to work under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, carry out designed occupational therapy programs and treatments to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning of PACE Participants to include enhancement of emotional and social well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and carryout treatment plans and programs that maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning.
  • Enhance emotional and social well-being, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in supporting individual treatments and programs.
  • Evaluate the effects of various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit in meeting participant's goals and needs.
  • Assist clients in developing or regaining physical or mental functioning or adjustments to disabilities by implementing programs that include manual arts and crafts, practice in functional prevocational, or vocational and homemaking skills, activities of daily living, sensorimotor, education, recreational, and social activities.
  • Communicate participant progress or problems to supervisor, and other team members.
  • Instruct participant's family or nursing staff on follow-through programs.
  • Design home exercise programs that include recommendations on assistive devices. Provide instructions to participants, family members, and caregivers on in-home exercise programs.
  • Provide information to the participant about proposed intervention, the material risks and expected benefits, and any reasonable alternatives.
  • Collect participant data, and complete required documentation to include any other forms to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • As a member of the interdisciplinary team, attend meetings with active participation in the care planning of the PACE participant.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a safe and clean condition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program resulting in an Associate Degree.
  • Current and valid state license or certification, or equivalent relative to those states where services are rendered.
  • Current certification from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
  • 1 - 2 years of experience working with the older adult population.
  • Outpatient, Skilled Nursing or Home health COTA experience preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training.
  • Must meet organizational driving requirements.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

$27.00 - $34.50

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
