Financial Analyst, Endowment/Gift Analyst

Job Description

We are seeking a Financial Analyst, Endowment/Gift Analyst who will monitor and ensure compliance to the gift and endowment process for the School of Medicine.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities


Coordinates

  • Monitors the gift and endowment process and associated activity. Ensures expense activities are in compliance to donor intent and administrative obligations.


Applies

  • Applies knowledge of the gift and endowment process as well as the purpose and intent of the gifts and endowments.


Creates/Prepares/Develops

  • Prepares and interprets reports on available endowed and gift funding to ensure active and proper usage of funds.


Analyzes/Interprets

  • Interprets donor intent in alignment with JHU and SOM gift and endowment policies to determine compliance.


Manages

  • Manages the gift and endowment process including ensuring gifts and endowments are maximized, ensuring compliance to the gift and endowment agreement and JHU and SOM gift and endowment policies, and preparing reports on gift and endowment funding.


Problem Solving

  • Ensures gift and endowment funds are used in compliance with donor intent and administrative obligations. Elevates severe compliance issues to leadership.


Thinking Critically

  • Identifies funds that are under-utilized and determines which to take to leadership to advise of opportunities.
  • Suggests and implements enhancements to the gift and endowment process based on knowledge of the process and relevant compliance and other issues.


Trains/Communicates

  • Ensures School and department colleagues are aware of JHU and SOM gift and endowment policies.


Collaborates

  • Partner with Manager of Business Ops; FP&A colleagues; Department Directors, Administrators, and Staff; University Controller.



Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Advanced Excel skills, with demonstrated knowledge of Pivot tables, formulas and other functions required. Experience with other data reporting tools also required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of other Microsoft Office products, including Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong customer service orientation and focus on details, accuracy and meeting pre-determined deadlines.
  • Proven communication, organizational, and analytic skills in a complex organization.
  • Ability to analyze data for budgeting, operations, auditing, accounts receivable, and reserve analysis.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission.


Physical Requirements 

  • Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard.
  • Occasionally lifting, carrying objects weighing 10lbs. or less.
  • Occasionally pushing, pulling objects weighing 30lbs. or less.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
  • Three plus years of progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in research financial management and academic business operations.
  • SAP accounting knowledge preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $53,800 - $94,400 Annually ($74,100 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
