Lecturer

The Department of Czech Language is searching for candidates to fill the position of Lecturer II with a focus on Czech language didactics.

MAIN JOB CONTENT

Education

  • Conducting lectures or other forms of teaching in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme as well as in lifelong learning programmes.
  • Supervising, consulting or reviewing Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.
  • In exceptional cases, a supervisor or consultant in doctoral degree programmes, or a degree programme guarantor, especially for programmes focused on education.
  • Participating in publishing activity, especially for educational purposes.

Research

  • Participation in the activities of research, development, and innovation.

Other

Participation in ensuring operational and administrative activities related to the academic position according to the instructions of the department head, e.g.:

  • routine administrative tasks in the administration of own courses, use of e-learning and communication with students via the MU Information System,
  • organising and participating in foreign internships for students and academic staff,
  • participation in the promotion of the field.

 

WE REQUEST

  • The candidate must hold Master’s Degree in upper / lower secondary school teacher training in the field of Czech Language and Literature.
  • The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in the area of linguistics (e.g., Czech Language, Linguistics, Computational Linguistics or similar).
  • The candidate must show a track record of research activities (published studies in peer-reviewed journals/proceedings, presentations at conferences, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Czech language at C2 level – condition.
  • Knowledge of English language at B2 level – advantage.

  • Presentation, organizational, didactic, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to motivate and support students in problem solving.
  • Ability to listen to students, answer their questions and encourage their active participation in the course and in discussions.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Ability to reach a diverse group of students and to adapt your teaching accordingly.
  • Ability to use modern teaching resources and materials.
  • Openness to new approaches to teaching.
  • Willingness to learn and develop continuously.
  • Ability to publish independently, especially for educational purposes.
