General Summary

Generally works under the direct supervision of the student patrol coordinator (OCPD Patrol Sergeant) with direction from the on-duty OCPD Officer. 

Specific Position Duties

1. Patrol a designated area of the campus area on foot. Report any suspicious activity or emergency circumstances which may require police or medical intervention.
  2. Observe and report issues that could cause safety concerns around campus.
  3. Conduct walking escorts when requested by students, faculty, staff, or community members.
  4. Assist police at major events with pedestrian traffic and patrol. This includes the following events:
  o Sporting events
  o Graduation
  5. Provide security for different events which may arise during the school year.
  6. Know the policies and procedures in the student patrol manual, applicable sections of OCPD general orders, and applicable state law, Odessa College Board Policy and student code of conduct. 

Preferred Qualifications

 1. Must be an Odessa College student.
  2. Knowledge of the Odessa College campus geography
  3. Ability to verbally communicate effectively during normal and stressful situations.
  4. Ability to communicate in written form.
  5. Ability to follow written and verbal directions supplied by the Odessa College Police Department.
  6. Ability to use a police radio and communicate with the same effectively.
  7. Must be able to pass a background investigation, as well as maintain confidentiality in law enforcement and other related areas, in which they may come in contact with protected/sensitive information
