ITRE is an institutional research center administered by North Carolina State University. Located within the University’s visionary Centennial Campus, ITRE conducts surface, water, and air transportation research, while providing professional training and educational opportunities. The Institute serves all 16 statewide campuses in the University of North Carolina (UNC) system and partners with transportation professionals around the globe.

The University of North Carolina, Office of the President, designated ITRE in a Memorandum of Understanding to work in partnership with the Technical University of Lisbon in the area of Transportation and Environment. ITRE became a member of the North Carolina Transportation Consortium in 2002, and was the lead institute for the Southeastern Transportation Center (a USDOT University Transportation Center) from 1989-1995.

The Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) is a university-based institute committed to leadership in the study of surface and air transportation issues through fostering analytical thinking, integrating technology in education and research, serving as a catalyst for problem solving, and cultivating professionals and students dedicated to excellence in transportation.

Essential Job Duties

This position will manage the work zone installer and supervisor certification testing program for ITRE, acting as the primary contact for all inquiries relating to the program.

Daily activities include:
● Work with the LTAP Program Manager to schedule testing dates and locations
● across the state
● Attend all testing dates, validate student eligibility, supervise testing, and input certifications in the WZ-EVA database
● Assist the LTAP Program Coordinator in facilitating LTAP classes
● Produce newsletters and handle additional LTAP-related duties
● Perform data entry, verify online registration, record certifications, print and mail certificates, and manage registration forms.
● Provide invoicing information to finance; review financial status and registration payments as needed
● Maintain open and direct communication with LTAP staff, ITRE staff, leadership, external constituents, and partners.
● Manage Excel and Access databases, using both programs reconcile rosters and to create spreadsheets to track test registrations, attendance, payments and other essential information that is required for a successful certification program

Other Responsibilities

Up to 20% in-state travel required to facilitate workshops

Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
