Job Summary

As a Human Resources Intern at DRS Daylight Solutions, you will gain hands-on experience in various HR functions and play a crucial role in supporting the HR team. This opportunity will provide you with industry knowledge, networking possibilities, and valuable skills to further your career in human resources. You will work closely with HR professionals to assist with the day-to-day operations of the department and contribute to ongoing projects and be responsible for one to two new projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment: Support recruiting efforts by posting job openings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, and maintaining applicant tracking system.
  • Onboarding and Training: Help facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing welcome packages and assisting with new hire orientation sessions.
  • HR Administration: Perform data entry and manage HR documents such as employment documents and electronic personnel files.
  • Employee Engagement: Participate in the creation and rollout of employee engagement programs and events.
  • Compliance: Learn about and assist with ensuring compliance with employment laws and company HR policies.
  • Research and Reporting: Conduct research on the HR trends and best practices; prepare reports and presentations as needed.
  • Project Support: Contribute to HR projects, such as employee recognition programs, new hire resources and HR process improvements.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • May support staff in assigned project-based work
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures

Qualifications
  • Rising Junior or Senior in bachelor's or master's degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology,or related field.
  • Basic understanding of human resources principles and practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with HRIS systems a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

The pay scale for this position is $16.50/hour - $22.69/hour. The pay scale information is a general guideline only. Several factors can influence the pay scale for a position including but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic locations, business considerations, scope and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate's qualifications such as relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications.
