Research Assistant
Job Description
We are seeking a Research Assistant to work full-time in the Center for Health Technology and Innovation (Principal Investigator: Seth Martin) on digital health studies funded by the American Heart Association (AHA), Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), and National Institutes of Health (NIH). The individual who is successfully hired into this role will have a chance to work with a fun, creative, and highly productive interdisciplinary team and assist on studies that will shape the future of clinical medicine and public health.
The DOT-HF trial, funded by the AHA, is a parallel-arm randomized clinical trial to assess the effectiveness of a digital remote patient monitoring solution to improve the adoption of guideline-directed medical therapy at 90 days post-hospitalization in heart failure patients. We will enroll adult patients with HFrEF that are currently admitted or were recently admitted to the hospital in this multi-center trial. Recruitment will occur across Johns Hopkins, Stanford University, and the University of Michigan.
The MCNAIR Study, funded by PCORI, is a multi-center parallel-arm randomized trial of the comparative effectiveness of in-person and telehealth CR. We will evaluate the primary outcome (6 min walk test at 12 months) and secondary outcomes at 3 months, 12 months, and 24 months. In addition to enrollment at Johns Hopkins, enrolling sites include the University of California San Francisco, University of Michigan, and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
In the NIH-funded ARIC-NCS Wearable Study, we are enrolling ARIC participants who are age 80+ and own a smartphone into a longitudinal wearables study in which they wear a Fitbit Charge tracker and receive ongoing technical support. This study is evaluating technology acceptance in the ARIC cohort and will evaluate the relationship between wearable data (heart rate, physical activity, sleep) and cognitive and physical decline and dementia.
