The Position
The Associate Director of Career Services executes the overall strategy of providing career-development programs and services to Ocean County College students through implementation and evaluation of career exploration, professional development, internship engagement, development of apprenticeship programs, and individual student coaching. This position leads and directs the daily operations of career services and assigned personnel to provide OCC students with information and resources needed to make informed decisions regarding academic and career plans. This position will also be expected to adhere to compliance guidelines and training requirements associated with the Campus Security Act (CSA).
What You Will Do
- Directs the daily operations of the Career Services Department including but not limited to: recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating employees, prepares the annual operating budget and monitors monthly activity in all career services' accounts.
- Develops and employs strategic planning for comprehensive career, apprenticeship, and employment services and programs for the College; determines annual and ongoing priorities for career services and ensures the priorities align with the College's mission and strategic goals.
- Identifies student needs for information and advising on career planning, employment, transfer, and scholarships collaborates with designated college personnel and creates programs, services, and publications to meet those needs.
- Develops and fosters relationships with external stakeholders for the purpose of expanding employment opportunities for students and alumni; also serves as a representative of the College with local employer organizations. Maintains positive employer partnerships and supports those partnerships with regular ongoing professional communications with designated work site representatives.
- Develops and implements all employer partner work site orientations and observations and all student orientations for the apprenticeship programs.
- Collaborate with dedicated career pathways providers in alignment with the Perkins Grant.
- Responds to inquiries from students, staff, faculty and community constituents about career and employment related issues and offers counseling services as necessary.
- Manages program standards, rules, and regulations in compliance with the United States Department of Labor regulations as a registered apprenticeship sponsor site.
- Manages and maintains current career CRM, including employer and job posting approvals, student accounts, communications and web page.
- Related projects and duties as assigned.
The Successful Candidate Must Have
- Bachelor's Degree, ideally in business or closely related field.
- Five years of progressively responsible career counselling and/or student employment experience in a higher education environment that required the delivery of excellent advising and student service skills.
- Proven track record of attaining established student career placement goals.
- Three years of supervisory, project or team leadership experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, a student database system and online sites and platforms; ability to independently create detailed reports, documents, presentations and deliver basic training on required software and systems.
