Position Description
The Department of Finance and Economics in the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-line position at the rank of Assistant Professor, specializing in Finance, to begin in Fall 2025.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach both graduate and undergraduate finance courses at our San Marcos and Round Rock campuses, publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals, and provide service within the university community. All areas of finance will be considered. Candidates must have an interest in applying innovative and rigorous analytical approaches to interesting real-world problems in finance. Experienced candidates are expected to carry a track record of high-quality research and an established research agenda.
The Department of Finance and Economics is a large, multidisciplinary department with over 40 faculty members engaging in innovative teaching and research including investments, corporate finance, derivatives, economics, and business law. The department offers Bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Economics and a Master’s degree in Quantitative Finance and Economics. The department also supports the college’s MBA program and newly created Online DBA.

Required Qualifications
- Earned Ph.D. in Finance or related field from an AACSB accredited university by the time of appointment.
- Strong potential for publishing in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong potential for superior teaching effectiveness at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications, such as the CFA, and industry experience are valued.
- Teaching courses in financial technology.
- Teaching courses in corporate finance, asset pricing, and behavioral finance.
- Expertise in quantitative finance, data analysis, fintech, applications of artificial intelligence/machine learning/natural language processing, big data analytics in finance, digital assets and currencies, and associated technologies such as blockchain and smart contracts, and computational modeling are also valued experiences.
